How to Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your Penny Finance account and all associated data at any time using either of the methods below.

Option 1: Delete In-App (Recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account is directly within the Penny app:

  1. Open the Penny app and sign in
  2. Tap Settings (bottom navigation)
  3. Scroll down and tap Delete Account
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted immediately.

Option 2: Request via Email

If you are unable to access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing us:

Subject: Delete My Account
Include: The email address associated with your account

We will process your request and confirm deletion within 7 business days.

What Gets Deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Your profile and authentication credentials
  • All debts, budgets, and financial data you entered
  • Bank account connections and synced transactions (via Plaid)
  • App settings and preferences
  • Subscription records

This action is permanent and cannot be undone. We do not retain your personal or financial data after deletion.

Data Retention

Upon account deletion, all personal and financial data is removed immediately from our systems. We do not keep backups of deleted user data beyond standard infrastructure backup windows of up to 30 days, after which all traces are permanently purged.

If you have an active Stripe subscription, cancellation is handled separately. Deleting your Penny account does not automatically cancel a Stripe subscription. Please cancel your subscription before deleting your account, or contact us at support@pennyfinance.net and we will handle both.
